We meet on the second Thursday of every month on the second floor of Longhunters Coffee & Tea Company located at 115 South Public Square.

At their January 11th monthly meeting, under the leadership of President Diane Hall, the Green County Arts Council reviewed their long list of 2023 accomplishments and events. Starting in February of 2023, GCAC hosted a Valentine Tea Party for Children at the historic Hobson House. They held an Easter Bake Sale and gave two scholarships to graduating Seniors. There was the Historic Home Tours in June and December. There were three dramatizations of three important historical figures of Green County, Elijah Creel in April, Daniel Trabue at the beautiful Heritage Gardens in May, and most recently, at the new Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, a presentation of Dr and Surgeon, Ephraim McDowell, all well-received and attended.

The Green County Arts Council is also dedicated to beautifying Greensburg by weeding and purchasing mulch for the Heritage Gardens, and decorating downtown for Fall. They raise funds through events such as their Luncheon Fundraiser and setting up booths at Pumpkin Pickin' on the Square and at the Annual Homemakers Bazaar at the Extension Office, selling Christmas ornaments, note cards, hand-tied bows, and garden flags. Some of these funds are donated to worthy causes like the School Choral Group.

There was a week long Art Show at the historic L&N Depot showcasing the artistic talent in and around Green County. Participants were able to create their own works of art during the week at the vintage jewelry tree workshop held there also.

And lastly, the Green County Arts Council, headed a week long celebration of Christmas Festivities, chaired by Jackie Bennett, including the Annual Greensburg Christmas Parade on Saturday and a Merchant Appreciation Breakfast midweek.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, the Green County Arts Council has big plans underway for 2024. Besides offering their annual scholastic scholarship, GCAC is undertaking their biggest challenge yet. A Committee has formed and has met with Professor of Art at Lindsey Wilson College, Tim Smith, in consultation for possibly creating a memorial bronze sculpture commemorating our local heroine, Jane Todd Crawford, for her part, along with her surgeon, Dr Ephraim McDowell, in the dawn of abdominal surgery. GCAC meets monthly on the 2nd floor of Longhunters, at 10 AM, on the second Thursday of each month. All are welcome to come join the adventure at our next meeting.
